Rescue

We collaborate with mandated state institutions such as the Ghana Police Service and the Department of Social Welfare, to conduct rescue missions each year, rescuing several children from modern slavery situations in Ghana. Through information from community members and referrals from government institutions and other NGOs/CSOs, we identify children who are in the worst forms of child labour including child domestic work, trafficking victims, enslavement, etc. Once we have a list of children to be rescued, we work with the Department of Social Welfare and the Ghana Police Services to free them. They are then brought to the Challenging Heights Recovery Centre which is a shelter built by our partners- the Hovde Foundation, the Buckingham Foundation, and the Max Stenbeck Charitable Trust. Over the years, we have rescued about 2000 children who benefited from recovery and rehabilitation services, and successfully reintegrated into their communities/schools.
